Youth Day 2011

Youth Day is a special celebration for Young People that takes place during Annual Conference for the United Methodist Church.

Youth Day includes a time of fellowship, and learning with young people from around the Conference lead by member of the Conference Council on Youth Ministries and Young Adults. Closing with a Youth led Worship Service with the rest of the body of Annual Conference.

New this year Shantytown overnight. This year’s Cal-Pac YOUTH DAY Kick-off will be our first conference-wide overnight gathering…in CARDBOARD BOXES!

So calling all YOUNG PEOPLE for POVERTY AWARENESS!

SHANTYTOWN is an overnight sleep-OUT to raise awareness for global and local poverty housing. Youth will be building makeshift shelters out of cardboard boxes as a means of empathizing with the reality of poverty housing. In addition to building their shanties, they will be creating a Shantytown fellowship through games, speakers, and activities that will help engage our young people in the relevant issues of homelessness and poverty awareness today. Youth will be gaining an experience that we hope they will take back to their local churches to be the change that they want to see in the world and to help end poverty housing.

Time: Shantytown begins Friday June 17th@7:00pm
Youth Day beging Saturday June 18th @ 10:00 am
We will conclude with the Young Voices worship at 4:00pm Saturday.

Where: University of Redlands, CA (1200 E. Colton Ave, Redlands, CA 92374)
